What Is Rooter Service?

Historically, the term “rooter” referred to tree and plant roots, which pose many plumbing problems. In many older plumbing systems, roots grew into cracks and gaps, causing pipe damage. Because the plumbing professionals were cleaning roots out of the pipes, the work became known as “rooter service.”

Today, rooter service generally refers to water line maintenance, including unclogging drains and relining or replacing pipes. Modern rooter service might also include routine inspection of the pipes to prevent expensive plumbing repairs. Additionally, while roots wreak far less havoc on plumbing systems than they once did, today’s professionals may still have to tackle root-related problems from time to time
