Emergency Plumbers Lake Worth, FLNot every plumbing emergency requires a plumber if you can learn some plumbing basics. Of course, if you ever feel in over your head you can call your local professional plumber to help. However, there are some situations where you may want to troubleshoot the issue yourself before calling in for back up. Here are three plumbing emergencies that you may be able to fix yourself.

1) Clogged Drain

One of the most common plumbing issues homeowners have is a clogged drain. Typically a quick once-over with a plunger can clear a plug in no time. However, if the drain is backing up quickly, the issue may be in the trap, not the drain itself. The trap is directly under the sink where the pipe takes a sharp bend. Sometimes you will need to remove the trap and clear it before your drain can work properly.

2) Clogged Toilet

No one wants to deal with a clogged toilet. But most toilet clogs can be successful remedied by the homeowner with minimal intervention. First, use a plunger to try and release the clog. If that doesn’t work, you can purchase a auger (or drain snake) to try and clear the plug. If your toilet is still clogged, you will need to call a professional like General Plumbing to take a look.

3) Low Pressure Showerhead

If your showerhead is not providing you with the correct water pressure, you may need to give it a good scrub with lime scale remover. Lime scale build up can prevent the water from flowing optimally. Remove your showerhead and soak it for 20 min in descaling solution. The buildup should come off rather easily.
